Zoë interviewed on Little Known Facts arts podcast

24 April 2023 16:37

Zoë is interviewed in the latest episode of Little Known Facts. This popular podcast, hosted by fellow actor Ilana Levine, is devoted to 'hilarious, vulnerable, revealing and inspiring' conversations with people in the arts.

You can listen to Little Known Facts: Zoë Wanamaker on BroadwayWorld. The episode runs for just under 40 minutes and is an absolute delight. As Ilana Levine remarks towards the end of the interview, she's had 'the best day' chatting to Zoë, and the conversation really flows.

The candid, wide-ranging interview covers Pictures from Home on Broadway, and how the family at the heart of that play (American photographer Larry Sultan and his parents) led Zoë to think about her own. She also talks about her childhood, early career, differences between Broadway and West End theatre, the role she's most recognised for - and so much more.

Many of Zoe's comments will stay with me, especially her thoughts on theatre post-pandemic. Theatregoers and actors were starved of live performance for so long that 'getting people back into the theatre so they can be told a story' (in Zoë's words) is hugely important now.

And if you want to watch some stunning theatre in the very near future, Pictures from Home is booking until 30 April.
