Zoë plays Charlie Hungerford, the smart, formidable mother-in-law of recently widowed detective Jim Bergerac, in this reimagining of the classic 80s drama set in Jersey. Season one is streaming on U; season two arrives in 2026.

Zoë has joined the cast of this ITV crime drama as Zelda Radclyffe, the quirky aunt of Cambridge professor Jasper Tempest, who helps the police solve challenging murder cases. Season four aired on PBS in the US in 2025 and comes to the UK in 2026, while filming recently finished on season five.

I have to take a deep breath as I write this, but unbelievably, 30 July 2025 will mark 23 years since the launch of zoewanamaker.com (or geocities.com/zwsite as it was back then).

To celebrate the occasion, I’ve asked my friend’s daughter, the brilliantly talented young artist Emily (aka ‘E Smi’), to sketch a portrait of Zoë.

As her reference, Emily used what must surely be one of the loveliest photos of Zoë ever taken. The finished artwork is even more wonderful than I’d hoped. Emily has captured Zoë’s delicate, distinctive features beautifully.

I’m also extremely grateful to my family, Zoë’s PA Vanessa, and of course Zoë herself for believing in the project I dreamt up as a teenager: to create a website about my favourite actress for the benefit of other fans.
